The big "reveal" (which would have been hinted at in previous books): Mandy, while being Jaycee's girlfriend, was totally into Brooke and wanted him above all. He couldn't care less (didn't have much respect for her in the first place) and didn't and didn't want to betray his "bro" (Jaycee), so he resisted, but she eventually got her way. No one says no to Mandy.
