Hi,
I’m glad to announce that the site is getting a much-needed facelift. It was designed by a very close friend of mine who passed away nearly five years ago, so I’ve been unable to adapt it to more modern considerations since then. But as I’m committed to making Bloomin’ Faeries! bigger and friendlier to mobile audiences, I’ve enlisted the support of a professional web designer & developer to make the site pretty and more accessible.
The site will undergo a few hours of downtime in the coming weeks to accommodate this upgrade. Please don’t worry if it happens—I haven’t gone away. It won’t take long and the site will be back up, slicker than ever.
Thank you in advance for your patience.

Trying on mobile:
– Gravatar no longer working for me on the site.
– Cannot reply to another comment.

The reply option seems to work for me. Is it just a mobile thing?

Mobile. The “Reply” buttons don’t show on Android. Both Chrome and Firefox.

Thanks, I’ll see if the dev can have a look at it.

Figured out half of it: looking at your previous posts, you’re not using the same email address. Your Gravatar.com seems connected to an address that has “_bf” in it.

The old site allowed logging in and would thus remember the email address. The new site only allows logging in to patreon, but I use a different email address for it. The _bf address was created specifically for BF to have a BF-specific avatar associated with it. And some people don’t have a patreon account.
I can add the name and email with every comment, but it would be more convenient to have the site remember it.

I’ll see if I can add this to my TODO. I have a lot of work for the March 1 revamp of my Patreon, so that might have to wait for a bit.

One more thing I noticed, the graphical elements of the discussion are taking a lot of space on mobile. Combined with the right column, a comment nesting level of 4 (like above, or https://www.bloomingfaeries.com/comic/bloomin-faeries-412) makes the text too squished on phones with smaller screens and/or larger scaling (for people with non-optimal eyesight).

At the moment, the quick solutions would be to limit comment nesting to 3 or ask readers to turn their phone sideways (landscape) when reading comments. Honestly, I’m not sure BF is ever going to read well on a phone in portrait mode.
