Tales From Mexico — Prelude

Hi all,

If you didn’t know, I was in Mexico between Christmas and New Year (and a few more days after that, as a matter of face). With me, my close circle of friends: Mandy, Brooke & Meghan, Antony & Frank (whose real name, by the way, is Lucas, but I still call him Frank as a joke), as well as Jennifer and her new boyfriend Jason.

It looks like we didn’t leave without a parting gift from Minx, however. I won’t tell you what it is right away; you’ll find out reading my retelling of the holiday events in the next few days.

In other news: Zuri is in town and it sounds like she’s going to be sticking around until the end of January.

More on the Mexico adventure tomorrow.

Quick Update

Hey all,

Sorry I’ve been silent. We have a pre-Christmas rush at the office, so I’ve been staying at work later than usual. Not much time left for updates. But this morning, it’s a bit slower, so here’s what’s been happening to the people in my life (and myself).

  • Mandy hasn’t moved back in, and probably won’t. We talked about it, and she’s worried that too much faerie influence in her life might cause her to relapse to her older self. She said it came VERY close, during the Trigger Incidents, and she doesn’t want to go back down that road. She’s still living at Antony’s and is looking for a new place of her own.
  • Brooke and Roseanne are officially over. Now it’s all about Brooke and Meghan.
  • Jennifer has a new boyfriend. Which isn’t surprising. Ever since she “busted out” (a nice way to say she got implants), she’s been going through guys like mad. They’re usually hot hunks, with toasters for brains. She’s also going for a more feminine look — I saw her wearing a dress, the other day, and it was really weird for me. She’s not a tomboy-ish little sister anymore, more like a hot sexpot. My brain can’t quite cope with that yet.
  • I received a postcard from Zuri. She’s coming to town during the holidays. BAD NEWS! I’m going on holidays myself right after Christmas (Mexico, BABY!), so there’s a chance we’ll miss each other.
  • Morgan never reappeared. I don’t know where she came from, or where she went after she visited me, “that” time. Probably just as well. I’ve confessed the entire incident to Mandy, though, who was upset by the whole thing. She understood it was the usual faerie mischief, though, so she’s not holding a grudge.

That’s about all the news. Oh, and Minx has been very quiet. She’s been looking a bit nervous, these days, but she says it’s nothing. I hope that’s not the calm before the storm…

A Little Update

I’ve been pretty silent the few weeks because there just hasn’t been all that much to talk about. The new job is panning out nicely, and the folks I work with (when I’m in the office, twice a week) are very easygoing and laid back. We’re doing children’s books, after all. (And before you go off calling me names because of the Albert thread in the past few weeks, rest assured that my work there is irreproachably pure and chaste.) And my colleagues are fairly conservative (they’re also on average a good ten years older than I am). It’s nice to be working in a totally non-sexual atmosphere…

Here’s what’s going on with the various people in my life: Continue reading “A Little Update”

Meanwhile…

The last week, a flurry of women came in and out of my apartment like there was a shoe sale or something.

Lana has been visiting me regularly. Part of it, I think, is her suspicion that Brooke (who’s been at my place a lot, of late) might have set “her” sights on me. Since Lana doesn’t know much about Brooke, it’s easy to get the wrong idea. I’ve been ignoring the issue, in the sense that I don’t make a bit deal of Brooke when in front of Lana, but I’m pretty sure there’s going to be some kind of fight about this in the future.

Then, there’s Mandy. She’s been coming to my place a lot because she’s begun “cleaning up” her old journal, which she says she wants to publish in small installments in the forums. Also, she comes here to meet up with Brooke, to teach him a bit about “being a woman.” Since we’re all pretending that Brooke has ALWAYS been a woman, and has just been hypnotized to THINK he was a man, Mandy is saying she’s just there to “remind her how to be a woman.” Continue reading “Meanwhile…”

My Crazy Life (Update)

Just a quick update for those of you who’ve been following my crazy life:

  • Morgan hasn’t hit on me in a bit over two weeks, but she’s constantly giving me that “vibe” that it’s going to happen again soon. She stares at me when she thinks I can’t see her, and sometimes, after looking me for a long time, she “excuses” herself and locks herself in her office. I can easily imagine what she’s doing in there.
  • No news from Meghan. Good riddance there. As for Brooke, he still leaves the occasional message, but I keep ignoring them.

Farewell Zuri, Hello Meghan?

As I said last week, Zuri was leaving the country this week. And now she’s gone, and I kind of miss her. In this dark time, she was a good friend to me, even though we haven’t know each other very long. We promised each other we’d stay in touch, but I think we both know these are good intentions that are going to fade once she arrives to her new destination. “You’re an Idiot.”

I’ve had a very crappy week. I’m sure you’ll understand why.

On Tuesday, when I came home, I found Meghan’s key to my apartment on the kitchen table, without so much as a farewell note. Attitude later told me she’d taken all of her things with her. When I asked if she looked sad or upset, or anything, Attitude just shrugged and said I was an idiot. Then I asked her if ANY of this was her doing, if she’d done something to Meghan or Brooke BEFORE the trip, just to ruin my relationships with them. Again, she shrugged. “You’re an idiot, like I said,” was the only response. So I dropped the topic. Continue reading ““You’re an Idiot.””

Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (Epilogue)

Well, I’m back home and back to work. If you’ve followed the tragic and upsetting tale of Meghan and Brooke’s hookup during the trip, you may wonder what’s happened during the last day before we all returned home. I’ll summarize it here (and keep it short because I’m in no mood to dwell on this topic). Continue reading “Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (Epilogue)”

Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (V)

The last two days have been eventful, and not in the most pleasant way, I’m afraid. I’m leaving the resort tomorrow, to return home with several changed relationships.

On Wednesday, there was more diving. Meghan didn’t join us because she wanted to catch some sun rays on the beach, and Brooke was off to visit some mystical Mayan cave a few hours from the resort (a place where there had been some human sacrifices, apparently). So Zuri and I joined half a dozen other divers and went off to check out some new coral reef sites. Continue reading “Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (V)”

Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (IV)

There was more diving yesterday, and a whole lot of beach vegging.

Naturally, during the diving, I made a fool of myself. It was all going well until this very long fish started swimming toward us. It was about 3′ long and snaking its way through the waters like… well, like a snake. What was odd about it was that its top was flat instead of pointy, like normal fishes. That should have been my first clue, but my brain wasn’t functioning right. (To be honest, I’d been ogling Zuri’s body and wasn’t paying much attention to anything else.) So when it started coming at me, I tried to put some distance between us. It wouldn’t let me. Continue reading “Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (IV)”

Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (III)

Yesterday, we decided to do something a bit different from the usual diving (if you can EVER call diving “usual”) and went to visit some nearby Mayan ruins. Meghan had a bit of an argument over this: there were two sites to visit, one that was smaller and well preserved, the other bigger & more prestigious, but more deteriorated. Meghan wanted to see the smaller one because it would make for better photo shots, whereas I wanted to stand on top of the highest pyramid and look at the surrounding area from there. Brooke and Zuri had no real opinions on the matter, so Zuri is the one who suggested we split up. Brooke offered to go with Meghan, since she could take some great shots of him in front of the ruins He made up some excuse about building up some kind of portfolio for ad agencies, but I think it’s all part of his pickup game. He always says chicks dig adventurous guys, and what’s more adventurous than a shirtless hunk near some ruins in the middle of the jungle?

So Zuri said she’d come with me to the big site, and we’d meet back at the resort at the end of the day. I have to admit, I was a bit worried about being on my own with Zuri. Since her naked night dive with me yesterday, I’ve been wondering if she’s been hitting on me in some way. I’m typically horrible at reading signals, and (believe it or not) being roomies with a faerie that handles your sex life doesn’t help me get any better at it. So I figured I’d play it safe and avoid ALL physical contact all day long. Heck, I’d try to ignore her as much as possible.

To be honest, my plan failed miserably. Zuri just isn’t the kind of person you can ignore. First, she’s absolutely hot, so your eyes have a will of their own (and they’re not the ONLY part of your anatomy that misbehave around her). Second, she’s smart, energetic, and very engaging. As we visited the ruins, she kept touching my elbow and directing my attention to this or that. She’s the one who spotted the small tarantula on the steps of the pyramid, or the scorpion at the top of a wall in some dark recess of an ancient room. She took photos of bats flying all around her. She’s the one who made all these references to architectural principles explaining why Mayan rooms were so narrow (something to do with the angles of the arches they could build). So after the first hour of exploration, I’d abandoned my plan. By mid-afternoon, I was realizing I was getting hugely attracted to her. By the time we returned, I knew I was falling for her, and that was going to be a problem.

So I figured we should have “the conversation.” As we rode in the back on the van, I decided to bring up the topic. I said I’d had a great day, and she was great company, and I wasn’t sure why she’d chosen to come with me, but I was glad. But also, after last night, I wasn’t sure if I was reading things correctly, and didn’t want her to misunderstand the situation. I was with Meghan, she meant a lot to me, and besides, she herself was with Brooke (right?) and he was my bro, so I didn’t want to mess that up either.

She listened to me, a half-smile on her lips. When I was done, she just chuckled and said: “Jaycee, you’re so cute when you’re naive — which is most of the time, I think. You have NOTHING to worry about.”

And that was that.

Anyone knows what THAT meant?

Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (II)

Yesterday: another day of diving. We saw turtles. One decided she liked us and swam next to us for several minutes before parting ways. Brooke took some great photos of it, as well as a short video. It was absolutely gorgeous.

And last night, something quite unusual happened. Zuri (who is a certified Divemaster) wanted to do a night dive. Meghan was too tired from the day’s dive, and Brooke wasn’t in the mood for it, so we ended up going just the two of us. We rented a boat and Zuri piloted it to the mooring point a few clicks off the coast. She told me to gear up, dive first, and she’d join me shortly. So I did. Once in the water, I looked back at her on the deck, signaled that I was okay. Then, I watched in disbelief as she removed her bikini top, then the bottom. Damn, that girl is HOT. She quickly put on her equipment and followed me into the water. Continue reading “Tales from Jaycee’s Vacations (II)”
