It’s hard to get a feeling for what is happening in the last panel. A sound effect would have been helpful. It could say either KA-BLAM or BZZZZT, and then I’d get a clearer idea of what is going on.
This look like a heroic sacrifice thing, but could one do otherwise in her position. The knowledge that she had abandoned everyone in order to save herself would have destroyed her anyway.
Why is this being treated with such gravitas? What reason have we been given to care about anyone involved here (aside from the Lurker guy who is innocent in all this)?

Looks more magical than thermonuclear. Beings within the radius are probably transformed rather than destroyed, is what I’m thinking.
