Just for the record, no one’s forcing me to do any censoring. I just cut out words I don’t like to use in public. It isn’t done to make anyone happy but myself, and definitely not in an attempt to make this comic less adult.
You should learn to use such words in public, there’s nothing more amusing than shouting “Cuntsticks!!!” down a crowded platform, or even remarking “Gashfucker!!” out of your window as you drive-by someone on the sidewalk.
Travan
It may be fun, but it’s not sexy.
Elfguy
Well spamming swear words like, say, Sydney Scoville over on “Grrl Power” ( http://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/197 )wouldn’t really ADD anything to Bloomin’ faereis though, would it?
Hey, you get to see Bewbies on a regular basis…isn’t that NSFW enough for ya?
Jaycee
I’m with you on this. I think cursing is lazy writing–if you’re going to do it, fine, but you should make an effort to do *something* with it. For me & BF, that means doing a little balloon censoring. It’s not making my life easier, I’ll tell you that… But I think the result is consistent with the style of the strip.

Incidentlly, how come people notice the *word* censoring, but no one’s really ever commented on the censoring of the naughty bits down below? Wondollar & I have gone to great lengths to do this, but it’s largely gone unnoticed…

I don’t know if I speak for anyone else, but..
I just sigh to myself, wish it wasn’t there, and move on. I tend to expect it after seeing various forms of censoring of the “naughty bits” done to manga/anime characters. You also said something about this early after introducing the strip, so I knew it was a conscious decision on your part.
Travan
I would guess because the people who notice that are more savvy about censorship methods and so less likely to think whining about it will change anything.
Mark
Could be that your censoring of the “naughty bits” is usually done by not showing (through convenient/clever positioning and composition of the panels) rather than covering actual explicit content.
It’s doesn’t stand out and in some cases possibly even enhances the experience by leaving things to imagination. You basically censor stuff by not making it explicit in the first place.
As for how you censor words, I simply take that as a running joke by now, nothing bad about it.
No worries, I wasn’t offended. I recognize this is my personal preference and not everyone shares my opinion. Just didn’t want anyone thinking I was being somehow “forced” into keeping the language clean. It’s just the way I like to write…

I personally think the word bubble censoring fits in with the comic just fine, as it’s not like one can’t tell what word it is, and it adds to the up-beat tone of the comic. Frankly, seeing the words that are censored wouldn’t in any way add to the comic, in my opinion.
And Jaycee, hello from a fairly new recruit to your flock of loyal readers, I love the strip!
Jaycee
Well, I’m glad to see you, along with a lot of readers, “got” what I was going for. This said, maybe this thread came about because I’ve been overusing that trick a lot lately… I should ease up a little… 🙂
And welcome aboard & thanks for the kind words. It’s good to hear you enjoy the strip.
Um. Uh-oh. A few pages ago, I called for Karma to punish the Wizard for that stupidity of his in enchanting baby Aidan, which turned him into ‘two-guns’. Does this mean Carmella’s going to be paying him a visit…?
I find the word censoring funny. I think it works well for comedic value.
I have noticed the crotch censoring… Loved Thane’s member holding up his entire suit of armor and clothing *LOL*. But other than that and a select few, I don’t think you’ve put much comedic work into the covering of crotches, so its gone unnoticed.
…Although I did just noticed that Karma here has taken possession of Lucky’s curse due to sexual transferance… and our princess is currently in the throws of passion with someone who was transformed into the opposite sex (alright, so it was transformed into who the prince was thinking of at the time, but right now he’s thinking of himself while he’s with her.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with all those double dongers.
My two cents on Cursing:
There is a time and place in my mind as far as doing it,.. usually incidents of charged emotion,.. or descriptive tones. I got no issue with JC here,… There is no cursing in Blooming that is just cursing for swearings sake,..
With regards to the image censoring, I really admire it. Only just found this comic today, looked through it all, and I think that the censoring is one of the distinguishing and more endearing features – some great placement of random objects to cover up. And far, FAR better than featuring ridiculous, two foot long willies!
My congratulations on what is one of the best adult oriented online comics I’ve seen. Great artwork, great writing; really impressive work.
Wow, you’ve just made my day, Marcus. And Wondollar’s day as well, I’m sure. It’s good to hear all this hard work is appreciated. Thanks for the support and kind words.

So far I don’t think Lucky minds things turning out this way for him. lol
Rodrigo
Agreed. I think for once, it can end without him being (physically) (much) hurt.
bbo
so thats the maid from before and she wants a pet dog? heh.
but that swear word censoring? its getting out of hand, this site should be tagged AO anyway.

Damn.
If her hair had been black, she’d been a ringer for my first fiancee, god rest her soul.
*sigh*
Nice art, Jaycee.
Ang.
Wow, I think this is the best looking page, overall, that I’ve seen in this comic – great work! Makes me wish I could draw!
Jaycee
I hear ya. I wish I could draw like this too… 🙂

JSmith
She is both “good” and “bad” karma in a “specific” “special” “sex” way.
Gallstone
Whoa. o_o It’s always the quiet ones…
Um. Uh-oh. A few pages ago, I called for Karma to punish the Wizard for that stupidity of his in enchanting baby Aidan, which turned him into ‘two-guns’. Does this mean Carmella’s going to be paying him a visit…?
Guesticus
Predicting ruff times ahead when she passes the curse on to the next victim
khamya9
This one’s another unstable potion not exactly a curse. May have been altered by the blond faerie though.
Ging3r
LOL JC Love this script defiantly true 🙂
BOB
I’d be her doggy too!
BOB
But I would want a treat!
BOB
I can’t help myself, sexy redheads are my kryptonite!
Hornet
she’s missing a glove in the last panel.
Otherwise yes this is hot and sexy but only for so long.
Gallstone
Carmella’s legs and hips look a bit… off… in the third panel.
Gallstone
*snaps fingers* Hey! She reminds me of Poison Ivy in the first panel!
Jaycee
Dunno, man. If those hips & legs were glued & strapped around my crotch and waist, I don’t think I’d mind them ONE bit! 😉
–Jaycee
Gallstone
I’m sure you wouldn’t, but the shape of them seems wrong. The space between is a bit too angular.
HypnoBubba
Second panel has her removing glove, while third has her holding it in other hand.
HypnoBubba
Also, I like the censoring. It shows a sense of humor.
Teerack
Cancel this comic and make a comic focused on Carmella. NOW

TJ
so this is arcane transference? she more dom, and he more sub?
Jaycee
Yes, it’s arcane transference. She’s got Glamour (appearance alteration & mind charm), he doesn’t anymore. 🙂
–Jaycee
TJ
Really hot and a little scary 🙂

There is a big difference between cursing and swearing, in this comic, the Faeries do all the cursing 😛
Jaycee
Nice one!

What if someone were cursed with wish granting? I mean, whatever was wished for, if that person heard it, they’d become the granting of the wish?
(I wish to be rich: the person with the curse turns into a devilishly sinful chocolate cake monster…with really yummy boobs)
lol
