well considering what the potions have been doing i think that is one issue that should be focused on… besides, he already admitted that he can’t deal with Fairies so why even bother.
Completley ignoring an attention craving fairy is ALWAYS bad news. Now she’ll feel that she must do something to get his attention back where it belongs.. on her and her mischief.
This will not end well…but will be amusing to watch from this side of the screen.
I suppose another way of reading it is that he was *expecting* the fairy, so all that registered was that she was standing where the potions should have been.
Just had to Google who ths Rincewind is… I’ll have to read these books, some day. I think someone’s mentioned these similarities before…

Rodrigo
I highly recomend them, just because they are awesome. And shows the absurdities of high-magic settings.
Khamya9
I second the recommendation, and you can start with the BBC movie Color of Magic if you haven’t got the brainpower for a novel.
I just love how death complains about having “near Rincewind experiences”.
Khamya9
Oh, I meant on any given day you might be drained or uninspired or lazy. Not that you don’t have brainpower in general.
It’s one of those days for me actually…
Jaycee
LOL. I actually thought it was funny, because I’m like most of us: afflicted with ADD. Reading a book is just too much trouble, these days. I prefer movies or audiobooks.
It’s just the times, I didn’t take it personally. 🙂

Though, he called it a “Near Vimes” experience in the book

they are worth it, very amusing.
Elfguy
I recommend starting with “The Colour of Magic” – it’s the first book in the series, and the one Rincewind is introduced in.
TooHandleToHot
I approve of these recommendations. I am looking forward to pTerry inspired comics as Jaycee joins the flock.
By the by, much love to faerie in third panel, she’s all “Dahell?! I’m right here!”

Re:reading Pratchett. I’m hesitant to do it, frankly. There have been so many people already making comparisons, I would hate for comments like “Oh, he’s just lifting stuff from Pratchett’s work!” to start appearing everywhere.
Re: panel 3. Actually, the faerie is doing a silent “TA-DAAAA!!!” Your comment would represent more accurately my intent in the 4th panel. But hey, your interpretation is just as valid, and I can see how that would be funny as well.
Gallstone
Buck up, Jaycee. If you’ve ever read anything by anyone, it’s bound to influence your writing to some extent. ^^ If picking up a little influence from another author improves your own writing, that is all to the good; so long as you don’t outright plagiarize but take instruction, it’s all to the good.
As they said in Ancient Greece: First you imitate, next you emulate, finally you improve upon and go original.

Personally, I *wouldn’t* start with Color of Magic, since it’s one of Pratchett’s earliest pieces and feels too much like something out of Hitchhiker’s Guide. All of the Discworld books are designed to make sense out of order, so I’d recommend jumping forward to something like Sourcery or Going Postal.
And don’t worry too much about being compared to Pratchett. It’s about the same as being accused of reading TVTropes, as far as the noticeable side effects go. Pratchett loves to call his own cliches and sometimes even gives them silly names.
Jaded Empath
I disagree with starting with “Sourcery” – it sort of concludes an arc going through the first few books surrounding Rincewind (and get resurrected every now and again in later books).
“Guards! Guards!” might be a good one, or “Equal Rites” or “Mort” – they start off arcs for other central characters. “The Colour of Magic” is…an early work of Pratchett’s and kinda unpolished. It’s still a pretty good one to start with; one could follow along T.P.’s work as he grows as a writer. 😀
Ah-HA! So YOU’RE one of those people who was voting! 🙂
I’ve removed all this stuff (Twitter, facebook, YouTube, TWC and comicrank.com) because I felt they cluttered the page and didn’t really bring anything to the readers. I’m just not updating any of the social media, so I shouldn’t pretend that I am. I was never a huge fan of TWC, which doesn’t really bring the site any readers. And comicrank.com just shut down its service (which I mourn) because it’s become too big to manage for the creator. So all this stuff went away from the site.
The ads have to stay, and I felt this was enough clutter, I shouldn’t add stuff that is useless to you readers.
Are we forgetting that 4 pages ago he was turned into a woman? Who else is suddenly going to find themselves back into their origional gender? A certain threeway might be getting very awkward, if they’re not done by now that is.

old man either can not detect fairies even if they bite them in the weener, or he has some pretty weird priorities.

Still, ignoring a faeries “Tah-dah!” moment, cannot possibly be a “Good Thing”.

Nah, Rincewind would be over the horizon and accelerating right now. He’s smart like that.

Maybe the wizard is smarter than he looks. If you steadfastly ignore the little stinkbugs, maybe they’ll eventually leave…?

It was a guest comic, not really part of BF canon.
Think of it as the wizard’s latest wet dream. 🙂

Speaking of wet dreams, it is disappointing that apparently the only “wetness” in mine will be a pail and a mop.

We’re not nearly done with Miss Lurker. 🙂
