I dunno. ‘Thanification’ sounds like she’s been turned into one of the undead… ^^; Which she clearly hasn’t, if all the body-heat is anything to go by.
Thanification. Not only is it a “thing”, it’s a thing with a “name”. And somewhat surprisingly, a name used by faeries that honors not the spell-caster herself but the human target of that spell.
I wonder about that. No one who’s been hit with the faerie-whammy so far has been seen to get pregnant yet, have they?
I once asked Jaycee whether faerie-magic has an anticonceptive effect, but he declined to answer… 😉
Guesticus
Has it been long enough for even the Twins to have been knocked up?
Gallstone
I’m also going by the old blog-stories. ^^ I think some of those might have qualified.
aRJay
Yes.
But possibly not long enough for it to show.
MidnightDStroyer
Well, consider the time frame that this comic has shown so far…Has there been enough time passed for “Thanified” women to discover whether they’ve gotten pregnant yet, or not? Depending on the timing of any particular woman’s menstrual cycle, it’s quite possible that some of these women might already BE pregnant, but just don’t know it yet.
Thus shall come Thane’s true life of Hell-On-Earth, as if his present curse isn’t causing enough trouble already; The plethora of paternity suits to follow…
She just knows about Thane, because he got hit with the whammy by a famous, powerful faerie. It’s like knowing your favourite musician’s greatest hits, I guess — Busty’s fangirling.
Jaycee
Insofar as faeries can fangirl, yes, that’d be an accurate description. 🙂

Hmmm, didn’t think word of it would have had time to circulate amongst the gnatty population yet
Gallstone
Busty mentioned Thane’s story — and the powerful faerie who cursed him — while telling stories to Attitude.
Guesticus
Yeah, but that’s in the future, long after the events with Heather and the Castle Crew
Gallstone
Maybe from our perspective, but the faeries can time-travel. @_@
Guesticus
The hair and wings are a little different, but they are wearing the same outfit (Busty McGnats has 3 strings to her undies and the ‘original’ has twin pearl ‘strings’, but again, just passed that off as artistic differences)
But, you are the author of course and know more about the gnats than me 🙂
To be frank, I wasn’t aware I was even supporting or not supporting any browser in particular. I just install plug-ins in WordPress and let them do their job. (At any rate, you don’t want to be using IE7. 😉 )
No, we’ve never seen a male faerie yet. I’ve never seen any myself. My roommate faeries have always been evasive on the topic so I don’t know if they even exist.
I figured it was either male faeries don’t have the urge to hex humans all that much so they aren’t seen by humans much or the faeries reproduce some other way.
I came up with an idea that female faeries have to get strong/sexy enough to reproduce first and do that by using their magic successfully a lot, which in this case is curse humans with sex curses. I figure after that they search for a male faerie or if there are no male faeries, they just shrink a human male down to their size or grow themselves up to human size and have sex with a human male they like.
It would make sense in a way since faeries tend to stay around you Jaycee so you might be their targeted mate when they grow strong enough. 😛
Guesticus
You saying they are going to use Jaycee like a breeding stud? o_O
Could be worse, not sure how, but could be worse 😛
Lurker
The fan-preferred hypothesis is that there are no male faeries and that faeries “reproduce” by transforming humans (preferably male ones) into faeries.
Furthermore, it has been theorized that Jaycee is being prepared for exactly such a fate by his, ahem, roomies.
Time will tell, but personally, I find the idea of a several-inches short Jaycee sprouting tiny wings and (possibly less tiny) female bits, intriguing.
MidnightDStroyer
Or it could be that, among the many differing races of “fairy-folk,” all of THIS particular sub-species are female & have to mate with males from a different sub-species. Maybe Fairies (of this species) need to mate with Brownies or Pixies, for example. The “child” born from such a union could be exclusively one species or the other, or perhaps it could be more of a “random chance” to become one or the other.
At least, that’s how I’ve come to understand the workings of it from my various readings in folklore.
Nope, Faeries shrink down human males to mate with them. The only male is Oberon, and he’s very selective; mostly human males and females. Yes, the king of the Faeries goes both ways; deal with it.
And thanks for the comment about the art, but as you probably know, it’s not mine. I’m just the writer. The strip is illustrated by hugely talented Wondollar. All credits go to him.
Sorry to comment late, but….
What?
No comments about ‘XXX-Ray Vision’?
In one of the 1940s Superman cartoons (Mechanical Monsters) his eyes go grey when he enables his X-Ray vision.
Nice to see a similar process with the fairy.

Thanification. There’s no cure but with your donation, those afflicted can still lead happy, productive lives 🙂 .

I know just the kind of donation I’d like to give her, if-ya-know-what-I-mean. (insert eyebrow waggle here for effect)

Nothing beats Dabbles’ “Porno Sense”, specially when it ‘tingles’ 😀

Dabbler’s Porno Sense is superior to XXX-Ray vision. With XXX-Ray vision, you can only see stuff like: http://heavy.com/comedy/2011/11/the-sexiest-x-ray-photos/

I was thinking Heather looked uber charged in the last panel.
