This Is Not the End

Welcome to the end of first incarnation of Bloomin’ Faeries! When I started the comic (WAAAAAAY back in 2010), it was a 4-panel comic with very little continuity. I was intended as a weekly gag, sometimes funny, sometimes sexy, hopefully both when I was really inspired. Over time, however, I felt the need to tell a longer and better story, and that’s led me to move to the half-page version you’ve seen in the last 5-6 years. It allowed me to get into more narrative and continuity, but I’ll readily admit that it’s a harder read than I’d like. At half a page twice a month, you don’t get as much narrative as I’m sure you’d like, and it takes forever to tell a half-decent or satisfying story.

So as I conclude the old version of the comic, I’d like to introduce you to the new and improved Bloomin’ Faeries! As of September 1, you’ll get a FULL-PAGE comic instead of a half page, and you’ll get that THREE TIMES a month. That’s about (I dunno, math…) at least TWICE as much story every month.

The comic will come out on the 1st, 11th, and 21st of each month. I will maintain that pace until my Patreon is strong enough to support a return to a weekly schedule (let’s hope this can happen this year!).

Faeries for Ukraine – March 2022

Last month, I announced I would help Ukraine by making monthly contributions (for 12 months or until the war ended, whichever came first). Today marks the first donation of what I hope will be few (if the war ends) or many (if the war goes on). I will donate any amount in excess of $1,200 to the UNHCR. Here’s what I donated today for the month of March:

I apologize that the payment sent is in CAD, but there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to convert my PayPal to US because I’m in Canada. But you can do the math. 🙂

Fan Art Program (FAP)

Have you ever wanted to commission (and own) some BF artwork, but couldn’t quite manage the funds for it? The FAP (acronym TOTALLY intended) is here to help. If you commission an artist who’s part of the FAP, you get 25% off the commission price. The artist will contact me and I’ll cover that 25% myself, so it doesn’t cost the artist anything. In exchange, both the commissioner and the artist grant me the right to share that image with my Patreon backers at no extra cost.

Some fine print:

  • This applies to pinup commissions alone; no comics are covered by this program
  • The final ownership rights remain either with the artist or the commissioner, depending on their agreement; I own no copyrights
  • None of the content is canon; it is to be treated as fan art
  • Mostly of interest to artists: I pay my share upon receiving a sketch of the pinup

And that’s it.

I’m just getting started with this and I’m very excited about it. I’ll include an item in the menu as soon as I get a chance. I’ll keep you posted as new artists join in. If you happen to know an artist that might be interested in this, please spread the word!
